This is amazing, Kevin! Thank you for sharing!
AATCC has been looking at creating a guide for testing reusable menstrual products - usually menstrual products are tested using a saline solution, which as you know, is not the same thing and doesn't yield accurate results. Are you looking into creating a solution to mimic menstrual blood? With the push towards women using more sustainable products, I think it's more important than ever!
Thank you!

Subject: Synthetic Blood Solutions - Pickering Labs
Hello AATCC Members!
You may know Pickering Labs as the "sweat people" but I assure you that we have explored many different types of artificial body fluids! Our synthetic blood formulations are prepared according to official methods ASTM F1819-07, ASTM F1670, ASTM F1862 and ASTM F2100. They are intended for product testing and have both surface tension and viscosity that is close to human blood. Additionally, the color of the solution is intended to mimic the appearance of genuine human blood. These formulations can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of materials used in protective clothing and other personal protective equipment (PPE). It can also be used to evaluate absorption capacity of materials that are in contact with human skin for prolonged periods.
We are excited for this new AATCC community forum to share news on our applicable products and we look forward to any feedback, or questions, that the group may have.
